For You, A Savior is Born (Advent Devotion) - Tuesday, December 25

And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!" Luke 2:13-14 (ESV)

Have you ever had such good news that you just couldn't wait to share it with someone? News that just bubbles out, and you can't stop talking?

We are told that angels are messengers sent from God to perform certain tasks; that they don't act on their own, but are servants, taking orders from the throne of the Most High.

But perhaps, on the night of Jesus' birth, they were given a “get out of heaven free pass.” Perhaps, when Jesus was born, there was such a joy “inexpressible and filled with glory” in heaven that it could not be contained. Perhaps, the Father threw the gates of heaven open and said "Go," and in their excitement, even the lowly shepherds received the Good News. Salvation had come to man! "

Concerning this salvation, the prophets who prophesied about the grace that was to be yours...things into which angels long to look." (1 Peter 10-12)

Grace that was to be ours. Grace that saves us from all our sin. The heavens could not contain it! The angels had witnessed Jesus leave heaven to be born a man; this sweet babe, the salvation of mankind. What's not to shout about?!

Heavenly Father, we praise You for your infinite goodness towards us in sending Jesus to save us from our sin. Help us spread the Good News of Jesus and His grace. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
