Bob (Rosebud Sioux) & Deon Prue
The goal: to walk alongside our Native brothers and sisters, letting our light shine before them, that they may see our good works and glorify our Father in Heaven. (Matthew 5:16)
Deacon Bob Prue runs the Haskell LIGHT Campus Ministry at Haskell Indian Nations University in Lawrence, Kansas.
Nearly 1,000 students from 145 tribes attend the university. Bob, with the help of his wife, Deon, strive to develop meaningful relationships with these young adults at a time when they are searching and forming their core values and beliefs.

The desire to “go home” is in the hearts of many Native Americans, too.
Jesus also left His home. But He chose to do that because He longed for everyone to live with Him in heaven (John 3:16 and 1 Timothy 2:4). Trusting in His work of salvation on the cross fulfills the longings in our hearts.
He said, “I am the Way, and the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” (John 14:6 ESV)
He is the All-Powerful Warrior Jesus. He is the light in the sky that we follow as we move through our daily lives. He is our compass for the year ahead.
In God’s creation, we see his fingerprints everywhere, and when we look even closer, we can also see his plan for salvation and new life.
I know there is no other hope for my people than the one who wrapped himself in human flesh and lived a perfect life.
In March of this year, Bill Paris packed up his life and moved across the country from Dayton, Ohio, to Lawrence, Kansas, to become a full time volunteer with the Haskell LIGHT Campus Ministry. Little did he know, this adventure would take him even farther from home.
The Haskell Military Color Guard have been having an Auction on the 2nd Wednesday in May for several years. This year, they wanted to hold it close to the Haskell Indian Nations University campus. Some of these Veterans asked Bob Prue (Rosebud Sioux, Haskell LIGHT Ministry Leader) if they could use the Haskell LIGHT building. Always looking for ways to connect with the Haskell and Lawrence community, Bob enthusiastically granted their request.
As the ministry leader for the Haskell LIGHT Campus Ministry, Bob's job is to reach out to the students - the "harassed and helpless," the "sheep without a shepherd."
