He Was Crushed and Wounded (Lent) - Good Friday, March 30

If Good Friday did not happen, if the Son of God did not die, there would be no celebration of his resurrection. Without Good Friday, there would be no need to celebrate the birth of the Savior of the world, for there would be no Savior. Without Good Friday, we would still bear the consequences of our sins. 

We must look at the gruesome scene in order to value what it means for us.

Teach God's Way (Lent) - Saturday, March 17

At the steel picnic table, in a drab battleship grey room, sat a young man about 25 years of age.  I introduced myself and the man unloaded his regrets and his fears.  He had gone out one night, gotten drunk, and did something awful.  He told me he had four children at home between the ages of ten and one.  

He had been given a Bible and had been reading it.  He told me he knew that Jesus had died for him, and he was forgiven.  Yet, he needed to hear it from someone else.  I assured him it was true.  He went on to say he wanted to be with his family and friends in order to warn them not to follow in his ways.

A Know-It-All (Lent) - Wednesday, March 14

One of the biggest challenges, for an outsider who enters the reservation, is to not come across as a know-it-all.  

At times, the more I share the stories of Mauna [God] the more I catch myself being a know-it-all. I get excited, and I play right into their understanding that the ‘white man’ Christian talks about God, as opposed to the Native talking to God, as they are often taught.
