Our Best Year Yet

our best year yet native ministry lutheran indian ministries

I love the excitement of the new year: recalling the events of the past year while looking forward with hope and anticipation of God’s plans for the year to come. I especially love to reflect on the blessings God has provided and the promises He has kept in the past twelve months.

We remember and rejoice that our awesome God, who is always generous and merciful, made the ultimate promise: providing a Savior in His Son, Jesus.

While the bitter January wind blows outside, I am nestled inside in a comfy chair, basking in the warm glow of the fire with my Golden Retrievers (Timby, Bernie, and Bubba) curled up at my feet. In this moment, I am overcome with joy and excitement, recalling all the blessings God has bestowed on Lutheran Indian Ministries and all the promises He is showing me for the future of this ministry.

Blessings abound and, in this season of hope and excitement for the future, I want to continue to meditate on the gifts God has given us in 2017.

We have seen many new opportunities to minister and serve Native people. Along with our mission to proclaim the Gospel and disciple Native people, we have been able to add more faith-based programs to our ever-growing collection of resources, such as Sacred Ground for those suffering from the effects of trauma and tragedy, Celebrate Recovery for those afflicted with addictions, and a program that focuses on fatherhood and families.

And now, as if those things weren’t enough, God is calling us to go beyond where we are to reach new places and new communities.  With no help from us, God has already begun to line up additional ministry staff to accomplish His mission. He has shown us a bright, bold vision that will increase the number of Native people whose lives are touched through these people, His workers.

God is showing us a bigger and better plan for Native ministry, and we need to catch up to Him! To continue to hire new staff, and train them in the programs we feel will best help us to reach our Native brothers and sisters with the Gospel, costs time and resources.

But, as followers of Jesus, we walk by faith. If God is showing us a new opportunity, then, by faith, it is our responsibility to say yes to Him and trust that He has a plan to make it work.

To do that, we need your support more than ever.

God uses faithful believers, like you, to make His mission happen on earth. As a faithful friend and generous donor to Lutheran Indian Ministries, I am asking you to join me as we walk by faith and say yes to His calling to reach more Native souls.

Change is never easy and growth is always challenging, but we have a mighty God, a visionary God, who sees the beginning and the end. He is the God who gave us that amazing gift in His Son and continues to provide for our daily and eternal lives. And now, He has pulled back the curtain for us just enough to show us an amazing future in ministry to Native peoples in Alaska, Hawaii, and across the lower 48 states.

I am asking you to join us on this journey, to say yes and come along as we do even more for our Native brothers and sisters.

We are grateful for your support, and we are blessed by your faithfulness. Now, we pray you will hear God’s call to join Lutheran Indian Ministries and help us do even more. Will you follow His plan and walk His path to help reach more Native souls than ever before?

You can say yes to His calling by commiting to a monthly gift of $10 to Lutheran Indian Ministries. Together, we can make this the year Native people, in amazing numbers, learn about and follow Jesus Christ.

May God bless you and grant you His peace as you live in His glory today and every day.

Happy New Year!

In Him,

Tim Young Eagle (Pawnee)
