Executive Order & AK - President Barack Obama issued an executive order Friday protecting parts of the Bering Sea from shipping, and oil and gas development, while also giving locals a voice in federal government. “This is the first time in our lives, in all these years, hundreds of years, that we’ve ever had an executive order done for us.” Read more:

Hawaii & Mauna Kea - Astronomers believe that the perfect spot for the next big observatory is atop the summit of Mauna Kea in Hawaii. But the proposed location for the $1.4 billion project is on land sacred to the native Hawaiian culture, and a legal challenge over the project has halted construction. Delivering Wild Meat - The Federation of Sovereign Indigenous Nations is delivering more than 900 kilograms of elk, moose and wild boar meat to food banks and shelters in Saskatchewan this holiday season. FSIN Chief Bobby Cameron says the deliveries ensure Indigenous people who aren't able to hunt still have access to traditional food. Read more:

Cleveland baby steps - Chief Wahoo won't be completely removed from the Cleveland Indians jersey next year, but he slowly being phased out. He will no longer appear on the hats, but will still appear on the arm sleeve. Baby steps in the right direction. Read more:

#NoDapl from Youth - In a short video, just over a minute long, we learn that this was a movement largely started and sustained by Indigenous youth—using social media savvy to amplify their voices and garner solidarity. Now, young Native American activists are looking ahead. Read more:
