Finding Spiritual Wisdom - Lent 2020

This is what the LORD says: “Cursed is the man who trusts in mankind,
who makes the flesh his strength and turns his heart from the LORD."
Jeremiah 17:5

As I minister to fellow Christians, I can’t help but think about this verse. Time and time again, I have heard those who are struggling with life's problems trying to resolve their issue with worldly advice. I’ve come to believe many Christian brothers and sisters need more spiritual wisdom and understanding as to how God works in our lives. The Bible tells us, in Galatians 3:26, “for in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God, through faith.” If we are God’s children, why then are we not looking to our Heavenly Father for advice?

This lack of understanding has caused many brothers and sisters additional heartache and pain. When we surrender of lives to God, we are making Him our Lord and Master. We should be looking to Christ for the answers to our problems. We should be asking Him for the answers. Luke 11:10 says, “For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.”

I encourage you, my brothers and sisters, to find the answer in Christ Jesus. Meditate on his word and find joy in knowing our Lord and Savior has all the answers for any issue you are going through in this dark world. His word is the light that will bring clarity to our Spirit. As it says in 1 Corinthians 2:12, “We have not received the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we may understand what God has freely given us.”

Heavenly Father, thank you so much for your grace and mercy. Forgive us for our foolish thinking that says we can solve our issues with the advice of man. I pray you would bless us with the spiritual wisdom and understanding needed to find the clarity to overcome our life issues. Give us guidance in all we do and open our hearts to receive the Holy Spirit as our guide. Help us to turn back to you for our needs. I pray this in the name of Your Son, Jesus Christ. Amen.
