I Know My Redeemer Lives - Devotion 2 - Monday Morning Devotions

Join us as Pastor Ricky Jacob, serving the Winnebago people in Nebraska, explores the life of Job and the truth of our Risen Lord.

Start at Week 1

He lives triumphant from the grave;
He lives eternally to save;
He lives all glorious in the sky;
He lives exalted there on high.
(Samuel Medley, 1783-1799, abr.)

The song that I just sang is sung on the resurrection of our Lord Sunday, better known as Easter. The words proclaim to the world what happened on that first Easter. Jesus rose from the grave. A grave that consisted of a solid stone cave.

It had been covered with a massive rock that had been rolled into place. Once in place the rock was sealed shut and a long iron shaft was rammed into the rock so that it would not be easily rolled back open.

On top of these security measures, armed soldiers were placed to guard the tomb from Jesus' disciples. These stringent precautions could not stop Jesus' triumphant resurrection from the grave. Jesus burst his prison on the morn of the third day - on a Sunday. Each and every Sunday Christians around the world celebrate on the first day of the week of Jesus' victory over sin, over death, and over the devil!

Following Jesus' resurrection, he appeared to many people in and around Jerusalem. He walked through walls and was not stopped by locked doors. For forty days he went wherever he wanted and revealed the marks of the nails in his hands and where the spear had pierced his side.

You see, Jesus paid for the sin of our rebellious ways in FULL! He declared this through this word, 'Τετέλεσται' 'It is finished!' (John 19:30) Jesus offers you a full and complete pardon.

On the fortieth day following his resurrection, he ascended into the clouds, returning from where he came and from where he will one day return. Jesus lives on and on! He lives eternally to save, having paid for the sin of the world so that each and every man, woman, and child who is gifted with faith lives as a saved individual. One day all those who trust in Jesus as their LORD and Savior will live sharing in the glory of His victory.

Please pray with me: Almighty God the Father; through Jesus Christ, Your only-begotten Son, our Lord, You have overcome death and opened the gate of everlasting life to us. We humbly pray that we may live before You in righteousness and purity forever; through the same Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.
