This Week in Native American News (9/18/2020): Hand washing, Cycling, & Tattoos

Most of us love to remain in our comfort zones and hate surprises, especially in the land of Lutherans. We go to the same service every Sunday and sit in our seats. We love the old pastor, the old hymnal, and we sure miss the old organist.

Change is can be upsetting. It disrupts our “normal” and forces us to try new ways of doing things.

Maybe you drifted from God in the past months. It’s not too late. You don’t need a Stay-at-Home order to take time to turn to your Heavenly Father and spend time listening to Him.

This Week in Native American News (9/11/2020): Memorials, Internet, and Pageant Queens

Life can suddenly shake. We can go to bed one night and wake the next morning to a pandemic, economic turmoil, political upheaval. It feels as though everything we have is in crisis. But that which is unshakable remains. The kingdom of God, in Christ, remains eternal. Nothing can separate us from the love of God.

While I, too often, act like a sheep, it helps me to remember I am God’s sheep. And like a good shepherd, He will provide for me and guide me. He promises none of His sheep will be lost. We know Jesus’ voice. We are His sheep, and He will lead us out of trouble.

This Week in Native American News (8/28/2020): Skating, Dancing, and Name Changes

For Christians, this Psalm is even more comforting when we realize God has destroyed the enemies we could never defeat: sin, death, and the power of the devil. Salvation for God’s people has come from Zion, where Jesus cried, “It is finished!” and death lost its sting (1 Cor. 15:55). The worst that can happen to any of us is we die. But death has already been defeated. There is now nothing to dread or be afraid of.

Life is much like this passage. When we are saved by Christ, we are to cut the umbilical cord of the world, but often we are still attached to our worldly ways.
