This Week in Native American News - August 26, 2016: a new mountain, a graphic novel, and some professional vandalism.

For most of us, the back to school season involves trips to the local stores to pick up new pencils, folders, and notebook. Perhaps there's a special back to school outfit and, of course, a new pair of shoes. But for the kids who live on the Lower Elwha Reservation and surrounding communities, access to new shoes (and money to purchase them) is limited.

But this year's students will be sporting new shoes, thanks to the Hope House.

Bread and life go together.

Who would pass up the Bread of Life?

That is what Jesus is offering you today.

He well knew how unwilling we are to be meanly lodged, clothed, or fed; how we desire to have our children decorated and indulged; how apt the poor are to envy the rich, and how prone the rich to disdain the poor. 

This week in Native American News - August 19, 2016: a relocated village, a man in a headdress, and some college applications.

I am part of a mission team of women flying almost 400 miles from our base camp in Fairbanks to do Vacation Bible School with the children in the village, as well as teen and adult Bible studies. The five of us come from Oklahoma, Alaska, North Carolina, and Illinois, and we are as different as can be in age, background, and temperament. But we all want this trip to be successful and to reach rural Alaska Natives with the hope of Jesus Christ.

If we don't REALLY think we're God, then why do we act like we are?
 

And, goes on Zacharias in his noble hymn, all this tender care for Israel is owing to the deep love of God.
